Hey - I also heard that women are not even allowed on the "dohyo" (the platform thingy where they wrestle). So I guess Title 9 is not an issue here. One interesting point is that the mayor presents the winner with the prize. In Osaka, the mayor is a woman - hmmm...

Interesting seating at this arena. Doesn't look very well attended. Was it really that empty?
The seating was eerily reminiscent of the "bomb shelter" (FSU Wesley Foundation Chapel) - even down to the purple cushions! Actually, this group here only included the small guys - the big ones (in stature and fame) came later in the tournament - and by then you couldn't see any more of the cushions - that is, until people started throwing them down at the dohyo at the conclusion of the final match. If I can figure out how to post a video somewhere, I do have a short one of one of the final matches.
