Actually that's not a bird - it's another one of your favorite "kappa" creatures...(just sans one of their more outSTANDING features) I think the red things represent sake, by the way. And not sure why these are green. But I thought it was clever how they made it into a water fountain. Kapppas apparently get some (all?) of their strength by having water in that indentation on their head.
But speaking of gator bites, I had a funny discussion with my new special ed students about how we eat alligator in Florida :) Man, I miss Cafe Tu Tu Tango.

Ok, even w/ the beaks & web'd feet, I'll give you the 'not a bird' ~ But I think I may have an acceptable alternative here in T-town ~ 'Poco Piatti' ~ same concept w/ Spanish, Middle Eastern and Greek Specialities ~ sans gator though :o(

Cafe Tu Tu Tango... wow, there's a reference! I remember wonderful shrimp and black bean pizza tapas.... yum...
Jason and I did hit Tapas y Tinto in South Beach in May, it was wonderful, it's in the little Espana neighborhood, sat outside and read books and drank sangria (ok, that was Jason...mostly...), not quite like being in Spain but still good... thanks for bringing back the memory!
